I went to school with Jeremy from elementary school through high school. He was always a nice guy, but we didn't become friends until high school. We were both in the same homeroom - and we were assigned one homeroom for the entire four years of high school - and our last names were close enough that we sat near each other. We were in student council together, so we ended up doing a lot of the activities together - being guides for Open House night, fundraising for Children's Hospital at Christmas time together, planting flowers in the spring. Sometime in the middle of junior year, The Sister and I realized how hot Jeremy was, plus he was super nice. He was dating a girl named Lisa at the time, who was also really nice.
During senior year, we were in calculus class together, and Jeremy was single again. It was a big thing in my high school to exchange senior pictures - we'd have people pick out which pose/outfit they wanted (generally, you had at least two different wallet sized pictures in two different outfits), and you'd write all over the back of them. When I brought mine in, Jeremy asked for a picture. I was a little surprised, but was absolutely shocked when he asked for both of them. Jeremy and I got closer as the year went on - the other activity we had always both been a part of was our high school musical. He was in the musicals, and I was the stage manager, so that always provided a lot of topics for conversation. It was sometime during the musical season that I realized that I had a HUGE crush on Jeremy. The weekend before the show opened, I was in a car accident on my way home from practice. A kid from a neighboring high school ran a red light and broadsided my car, with The Sister and two of our friends in the backseat. Thankfully, none of us were hurt, other than a bump on my head. A lot of our classmates were in the cars behind us, and somebody called Jeremy to come over. He was there within minutes - before my parents even got there - and he held me while I cried. It was around that time that I thought maybe he might like me, too. I had heard that he wanted to ask me to prom, but before he could, one of my best friends did, and of course, I said yes.
Jeremy ended up being the prom king - his date, Nicole, was prom queen, and nobody was more deserving than she was. We danced together at prom, and then again at our Senior Banquet, but that was the most that ever happened. And after seeing one another at each other's graduation parties that summer, we left for separate colleges. Sometime during that first semester of college, I got an ICQ or Instant Message from him. And finally, everything came out - he liked me, but didn't think I would have gone for him. I can't imagine why - he was hot, nice, and popular. I was a smart little band geek - he wasn't the one who had to be afraid of rejection! And so nothing ever happened. I haven't thought about Jeremy in years, but when it came time to come up with something for the letter "J," he instantly popped into my head. I wonder what he's up to today. Whatever it is, I have no doubts that he still has amazing hair, is incredibly hot, and is one of the nicest guys around.
